    10th Million Infusion Solution

On July 18, B. Braun Kenya celebrated a milestone that the company had achieved in their production plant for Infusion Solutions and EyeEar Drops within the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Athi River in the greater Nairobi area.

The celebration marked the production of the 10th million infusion solution at the state-of-the-art facility that has been operational since 2021. This achievement highlights B. Braun’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access and quality across East Africa by producing essential medical supplies locally.

The production plant in Athi River is equipped with cutting-edge technology and adheres to international quality standards, ensuring that the infusion solutions and eye/ear drops manufactured meet the highest quality criteria. The facility has created employment opportunities for local talent while facilitating knowledge transfer and skill development in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

    Strategic Importance

The milestone is particularly significant as it demonstrates B. Braun’s successful implementation of its localization strategy in Africa. By establishing production capabilities within Kenya, the company has enhanced supply chain resilience, reduced dependence on imports, and contributed to the country’s economic development through job creation and technology transfer.

During the celebration, company officials emphasized the importance of this achievement in B. Braun’s broader mission of improving healthcare accessibility across Africa. The locally produced infusion solutions have already been supplied to healthcare facilities in Kenya and neighboring countries, including South Sudan and Tanzania.

“This milestone represents our commitment to advancing healthcare in East Africa through local production of high-quality medical supplies. Our state-of-the-art facility in Athi River enables us to respond more effectively to the region’s healthcare needs while contributing to Kenya’s manufacturing sector.”

    Future Plans

Building on this success, B. Braun Kenya has announced plans to expand its production capabilities and product portfolio. The company aims to increase its manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand across East Africa and potentially extend its reach to other parts of the continent.

The expansion plans include potential diversification of the product range to include additional medical solutions that are in high demand in the region. This strategic growth initiative aligns with B. Braun’s global vision of enhancing healthcare systems through innovation and localized solutions.
